Application scenarios of dry-type transformers
Subways, Tunnels, and Urban Rail Transit:
Reason: This is a typical application for dry-type transformers. Underground
spaces are cramped and poorly ventilated, making the consequences of a fire
disastrous. Dry-type transformers are crucial for meeting these stringent fire
safety standards.
Purpose: Installed in step-down and traction substations at various stations,
they provide traction power for locomotives and power for station ventilation,
lighting, signaling, and communications systems.
Shipbuilding and Offshore Platforms:
Reason: Ships and offshore platforms are enclosed spaces and far from land,
making rescue difficult. Electrical equipment must be fireproof and
explosion-proof, mechanically strong, and resistant to salt spray corrosion.
Specially treated dry-type transformers (such as those with VPI treatment) are
ideally suited.
Purpose: Serves as the main distribution transformer for ships or
platforms.
Auxiliary Power Systems in Power Plants and Nuclear Power Plants:
Reason: Dry-type transformers are widely used within power plants, especially
near core equipment such as generators and boilers, to prevent transformer
failures from causing fires that could impact main engine operations.
Function: Provides power to the power plant's own auxiliary equipment, such
as fans, pumps, and control systems.
New Energy Sector:
Reason: PV and wind farm box-type substations typically house transformers in
sealed enclosures, requiring fire- and explosion-proof equipment. Dry-type
transformers are the preferred option.
Function: Serves as the main unit within a PV/wind power box-type
transformer, boosting the voltage generated by the generator and transmitting it
to the grid.
